One last page!

Hey this will be a quick one!

Just to say that page 20 is done, and rocking!

That only leaves page 21 to ink and color, minor text edits, and we’re done!

The long last mile

So the last mile is the longest it would seem!

The good and bad news is, the 2 page spread is out which is too bad ’cause it would have rocked, but good, because the alternative serves the story best, as you’ll find out once the book is out! In the meantime, I’ve been working on the 2 last pages, showing the comic to a select few, and carrying out script tweaks with Marc. I finished inking page 20, and will attack page 21, so the last mile is coming to an end… slowly!

The last mile + change of plan

I’ve finished putting together all the colored artwork and lettering in InDesign! So everything is done!

Well, everything except page 20-21; I was starting to work on those, but I sat down and read the whole first issue that I had just printed, and it came to me… those two pages should actually be a huge 2 page spread!

So I’m currently working on a “montage” type layout that will hit the peak in the story before we wrap up this first of six issues.

With a bit of luck, I’ll still be done by Monday, leaving only a cover and logo to be designed!

Yet another update!

As of now, my list of things to do to complete issue 1 are as follow:

-Color page 19 & 22
-Ink and color page 20
-Pencil, ink & color page 21
-Do the lettering (by the end of today!)
-Design a cover & Logo

It’s incredible to finally see the end of this first issue coming, its been a long time in the making, and feels really great to be completing something!

Page 18 completed

Just finished coloring page 18! I’m making good progress this week.

To complete the comic I now only need to:

-Color page 19 & 22
-Ink and color page 20
-Pencil, ink & color page 21
-Do the lettering
-Design a cover & Logo

At this point, I believe I can pull everything off next week except the Logo and cover.

Stay tuned!

Page 3 colored

Here is the latest page I’ve finished coloring!

Along with it, here’s the original scanned line work.

Stay tuned for a video tutorial that will show you how I work in Photoshop to get from the line art version to the colored page!

Feedback appreciated as always!

Tutorial coming soon!

I’ve finished an additional page (page 3).

I took the time to comment and record my work as I was coloring this page, and now have plenty of material to create my very first tutorial.

Finishing the comic takes precedence, but I’ll try and find some time next week to edit the video into a less boring, to the point presentation, chalk-full of tips!

Also, I’ll be posting the finished page shortly as its the last page I can share without spoiling the story!

Progress report

I’m off to a good start this week, with 1 and a half pages colored in a day.

I’ve been capturing video and audio commentary, as I work on this new page, showing how I go about coloring with Photoshop. As soon as I’ve completed the process and had time to edit out the boring moments, I’ll post the mini-tutorial here!

Crunch time

Alright, so the project hasn’t been making leaps and bounds lately, lets be honest…

But we still believe in it, more so now than ever, and we want to finish it, and bring it to readers!

So its time to do something about it! Starting next week I’m taking time off and really getting to work on the remaining pages of the comic!

With two weeks of work, it should be done, or just missing a cover page…

Lots in store then coming soon. I’m meeting Marc on Friday to finish up some costume designs, and then expect plenty of posts next week! I’m looking at recording my screen as I color and letter to give you more insight into how I work and possibly produce some commented ttorials once the smoke clears!

All in a weeks work!

After my week of “vacation”, I’ve now 5 more pages fully colored!

As from now on, I won’t be able to post additional pages (except page 3, that I didn’t color yet!), since I’d be spoiling the story!

So enjoy these pages for now, and feedback is appreciated, as always!

What I will be doing shortly, is:

-Gather all the pages I can show and sort them out for easy browsing, I’ll have to think of the best approach to this!

-Post the penciled and inked pages so you can see the evolution of most pages (I didn’t scan all the pencils prior to inking).

-Tutorials and tools! I’ve been maning to do this for a long time, and I’ll try and put together some helpful posts on using Photoshop for coloring and eventually, detail my process in Illustrator as well as InDesign! Also, I’ll provide some files you can download (like color palettes for Photoshop, etc.

Stay tuned!
